Long Lunches

The Palais

  • About

The Long Lunch legend continues for the 2018 Adelaide Festival celebrating Adelaide’s place as a centre of food and wine culture. This year we welcome you on board the Palais to enjoy the art of hospitality -– long lazy lunches prepared by a selection of contemporary culinary giants - all under the influence of Adelaide.

While our 2017 Long Lunch program celebrated the seminal era of Adelaide and Australian cooking – the 1980’s – where it all began, our 2018 program explores SA’s place as a contemporary breeding ground for progressive, exemplary and delicious food – looking at both where we came from and where we are heading. Chefs from all over Australia will converge on the Palais to continue the Adelaide food story – and it’s a compelling one. Our guest chefs this year have cooked here, love here, or been born here… all are connected to Adelaide by two degrees of separation and they’ve got great food and stories to share. SA produce will also star with all food showcasing the very best we have to offer.

Our 2018 chefs will explore our food heritage and food future – what makes us taste and feel great. The Palais Long Lunch program is a chance to kick back on a beautiful summers day, float on the Torrens and eat and drink the best SA has to offer - each lunch celebrates Adelaide and SA food through a different chef’s menu and has it’s own musical soundtrack reflecting the food and who cooked it.

The program, curated by Gill Minervini (Dark MOFO Winter Feast) features O Tama Carey, Jared Ingersoll, Alex Herbert, Jordan Theodoros and Janet Jeffs.
